Whitsunday Baptist Church is a Christ-centered church located in the beautiful Airlie Beach area.  Our greatest passion is growing deeper in faith in Jesus and building lifelong friendships, because we have a genuine heart for the people of the Whitsundays.

FAQ

What do we preach?

We preach the gospel of Jesus Christ: His death, burial, and resurrection; salvation through faith in Him alone; and His glorious return one day!

Will I be expected to do anything?

Not at all! When you visit, there’s no pressure to participate. You’re welcome to simply sit, listen, and observe, or get involved as much (or as little) as you feel comfortable with. We’re just glad you’re here.

Can anyone attend?

Absolutely, everyone is welcome! No matter your background, beliefs, or where you’re at in life, you’ll find a warm welcome at Whitsunday Baptist Church.

What does it cost to attend Church?

Nothing, it’s completely free. We do take up an offering as an act of worship and to support ministry and outreach, but giving is entirely voluntary and never required. You’re our guest, and there’s no obligation at all.

PASTOR Andy Wilson

Hi, my name is Andy Wilson and I am excited to serve the Whitsundays community in my new role as Pastor of Whitsunday Baptist Church. Having had over 20 years of experience serving in numerous churches in many different roles, I am excited to bring the experience God has given me to serve and reach our diverse community for His Kingdom.

My wife Nerida and I have a wonderful, blended family of six children. She has worked passionately as a teacher and lecturer for over 15 years and is currently a teacher at the local Christian College, where our two youngest children attend.

I began my Bachelor of Ministry at Malyon Theological College in 2021, after concluding 20-plus years running my own artist-blacksmith company in Ipswich, QLD. The calling from the Lord to pursue a career that wholly serves Him, led to this life-changing decision.

I have a passion to see all Christians really know and understand their Bible, with all scripture being taught from the pulpit and in small groups. I believe that the church is a hospital for the sick, not just a place for the perfect. I believe people need to feel that church is a place where they can let their guard down and be real; Christ works in us despite our weaknesses and failures (1 John 1:9). I believe God has called me to build His Church (Eph 4:11-16) by growing the Body of Christ into a community of strong disciples, that not only know their Bible, but actively live out their faith with practical wisdom.

Jesus called us to go out and make disciples not decisions, to see God’s Kingdom lived out on Earth, as it is in Heaven; and this is my principal passion! Although fishing and sports run a close second of course…;)
